Season 1 Timeline

End:November 5, 2025, 05:59 UTC

How Ranked Battles Work

Ranked Battles are four-player matches where each Trainer brings a team of three Pokémon. All Pokémon are automatically set to Level 50 for battle, so everyone competes on an even playing field regardless of their current progress in the main game.

Eligible Pokémon

Lumiose Pokédex No. 001–227

Regional forms are allowed

Only one Pokémon of each species per team

Any Pokémon level is allowed, but it will be scaled to Lv. 50 in battle

Pokémon may hold items, but duplicate items are not allowed

Match Duration

Each Ranked Battle lasts 3 minutes.

Points are awarded based on your team's performance:

1st place:+30 points

2nd place:+10 points

3rd place:-10 points

4th place:-30 points

Pro Tip: Points are earned primarily through eliminations. Avoid unnecessary fights early on, wait for openings, and try to knock out weakened opponents. Moves that hit multiple Pokémon, such as Surf or Rollout, can give you a significant advantage.

Rewards in Ranked Battles

There are three types of rewards in Ranked Battles:

Battle Rewards

Earned at the end of every match, no matter the result. These include items useful for training Pokémon, like Mega Shards that can be exchanged for Mega Stones.

Promotion Rewards

Earned when you advance to a higher rank. These rewards encourage you to keep climbing and improve your strategy.

Season Rewards

Based on your final rank at the end of Season 1.

Full Season Rewards Breakdown:

Rank A: Sport Ball ×3, Gold Bottle Cap ×1, Bottle Cap ×3, Seed of Mastery ×3, Big Nugget ×1

Rank B–E: Sport Ball ×2, Gold Bottle Cap ×1, Bottle Cap ×2, Seed of Mastery ×2, Nugget ×2

Rank F–K: Bottle Cap ×1, Seed of Mastery ×1, Nugget ×2

Rank K: Greninjite Mega Stone

Rank L–R: Seed of Mastery ×1, Nugget ×1

Rank S and below: Nugget ×1

Special Note: Reaching Rank K unlocks the Greninjite, a Mega Stone that cannot be obtained through normal gameplay. Once unlocked, you can Mega Evolve Greninja immediately—even before obtaining the Mega Ring in the main story.

Gamefreak has confirmed that Greninjite will appear as a reward again in future seasons, but you can only have one of each Mega Stone, so make sure to claim it this season if you don't already own it.

Tips for Reaching Rank K

Focus on eliminations: Don't worry if your Pokémon faint; eliminations matter most.
