Pokémon Legends: Z-A Mega Stone Locations & How to Get Them
Mega Evolutions are back in Pokemon Legends: Z-A — and they're more powerful than ever. Over 60 Pokemon can now Mega Evolve across Lumiose City, each requiring its own unique Mega Stone. They're hidden behind story missions, Rogue Mega battles, and shard trades — but don't worry.
This guide covers how Mega Stones work, how to unlock Mega Evolution, and where to find every Mega Stone in Pokemon Legends: Z-A.

What Are Mega Stones?
Mega Stones are rare evolution items that let certain Pokemon Mega Evolve during battle.
Each Pokemon has its own stone — for example:
Gengar → Gengarite
Charizard → Charizardite X or Y
When a Pokemon holds its Mega Stone, you can trigger Mega Evolution once per battle, giving it huge stat boosts, new typing, or even unique Abilities. This makes them essential for endgame missions and Ranked Battles.
How to Unlock Mega Evolution
You'll unlock Mega Evolution in Main Mission 9, after defeating a Rogue Mega Absol.
Once completed:
The Stone Emporium on Vernal Avenue starts selling Mega Stones.
Later, Quasartico Inc. opens for Mega Shard trades.
From here, you can start building your dream Mega Evolution team.
